| Issue |
To ensure that the Authority was achieving best
value in its IT procurement and support services.
|
 |
| Solution |
With its existing supply contract due to expire, Manchester City Council chose
to re-evaluate its supply options and selected ComputerLand as its IT provider.
"ComputerLand exhibited a willingness to tailor their service to meet our
requirements and an ability to add value," explains Manchester City Council’s
Computer Services Manager, Crossley Cockcroft.
ComputerLand provide a fully managed supply and maintenance service for the
Council’s IT estate, of around 9,000 PCs, 2,200 printers and 140 servers,
spread across 200 city centre sites. The Company achieved a smooth contract
transition, with 13 on-site staff successfully transferred under TUPE
regulations. ComputerLand has introduced on-line procurement, supported by
image management and implementation services, and is also enabling the
Authority to improve its desktop management.

| Result |
One example of the ComputerLand value add has
been the successful implementation of on-line procurement. As well as
supporting the drive towards e-government, this has been tailored to feed key
information directly into helpdesk and asset management systems – replacing
what was previously a heavy-duty paper process. "Working with ComputerLand
we’ve been able to spend our IT budget more productively", comments Crossley
Cockcroft.
