Geldards provides professional legal advice to private and public organisations as well as private individuals with three offices in the UK and 10 further associate offices in Europe.

| Issue |
Recognising that its core business is legal services, and not IT service provision, Geldards wanted to reduce IT costs as well as improve its IT skills base by using a specialist IT service provider.

Geldards had experienced ComputerLand’s service as procurement partners for IT delivery and infrastructure projects. This relationship was extended by the opportunity to provide specialist managed support services in an attempt to reduce costs and improve user availability and service levels.
ComputerLand provides the core infrastructure support and availability whilst Geldards’ internal support desk provides user assistance and support in the specialist applications of particular relevance to the legal sector.
ComputerLand supports and manages 60 servers across three sites in the UK, providing core infrastructure maintenance and availability. This includes the management of SQL servers, Exchange, Windows AD and essential administration of back-ups and anti-virus protection.

"This business model has worked very well for us. By outsourcing the broad and technically complex skills of IT infrastructure and service platform support, we have driven costs down whilst retaining complete control and strategic direction. The partnership ensures we are able to concentrate on specific legal sector IT drivers," explains Geldards’ IT Director, Dean Hill-Jowett. |
